Qualifications and Experience
Her qualifications in Art Therapy as well as in Psychoanalysis bring a unique combination of creativity and theoretical rigour to her practice. Her breadth of experience is considerable, having worked as a Senior Art Therapist in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for 7 years. She was Head of Therapy in a group of residential children’s homes for 2 years, as well as working for Childline as a telephone counsellor, also for 2 years. While living in Paris she set up C.A.N. the Children’s Arts Network which funded specific arts projects for children in established therapeutic relationships.

Current Practice
For the last 7 years Marianne has been seeing children and young people at her private practice in West Cork. She is commissioned privately as well as by the local CAMHS, Child and Family Psychology Department, Social Work Department and by local GPs.

Lecturing
Marianne lectures on the Art Therapy MA based in MTU/Crawford College, as well as on The Certificate for Principals in Art Therapy. She is currently engaged in designing an ‘Infant Observation’ module for the MA, bringing the traditional model of ‘Infant Observation’ and Art Therapy together in an exciting and innovative way.

Specialism
A particular area of interest for Marianne has always been working with children and young people no longer in their birth family. She has researched and written on this subject, as well having invented ‘Come & Get Me Then…’, a board game to help children in foster care who may be rehabilitated back to their birth family.

Supervision
She is a supervisor of Art Therapists as well as Therapists of other disciplines.
