Parental Consultation

We are all pioneers, at the leading edge of our family histories. We have the opportunity to be creative and innovative with the family dynamics we have inherited.’

The possibility of Parental Consultation grows naturally from the Initial Consultation process. Parents come with concerns for their child, and it often becomes clear in this first meeting (without the child being present) that support and shared headspace for the Parent(s) is sufficient to start gently shifting the child’s dynamic. Thus progress can be facilitated without the commitment and expense of the child entering into a therapeutic relationship.

Finding space to reflect in the midst of our hectic lives can be extremely difficult, and trying to gain some perspective in the very sensitive and emotive area of our children’s struggles, and our relationship with them, can be even harder. In the process of Parental Consultation Marianne offers a welcoming and confidential space, as well as the benefit of her considerable experience and non-judgemental objectivity.

We are all pioneers, at the leading edge of our family histories. We have the opportunity to be cr

eative and innovative with the family dynamics we have inherited. This family tapestry is the context within which any current difficulty or trauma nestles, and existing threads of tension can exacerbate and even help create knotty areas.

The process of Parental Consultation can shed light on these complex dynamics, and in doing so generate insight and a wider, more considered, repertoire of response.
